Buongiorno
"How little a thing can make us happy when we feel that we have earned it." Mark Twain
I found my treasure last weekend, driving back home from a boring grocery shopping...look, a YARD SALE! Few dollars in my pocket, here I go. On the table a black box, I have a thing for boxes right now, inside there she was (it's a girl to me) a beautiful typewriter. I whispered to my self "don't act to excited, just ask the price". The nice lady says, " I have no idea, make me an offer", I am trying to grab the cash out of my pants pocket so I can see how much I have and how much to offer. I can't, my pants are too tight or I am too fat, I still can't figure that out. The nice lady says "give me what you have in your pocket". The cashola is out! 5.00 whole dollars, she says " I'll take it"!....I was so happy , I was 19 when I took typewriting classes and it was exactly the same one, can you imaging taking a test with that typewriter, I did. I took it home and showed the Famiglia, they love it. It is sitting on a cabinet near the front door and anytime I walk by a tap on one letter. It's mine and she makes me happy! Have a great weekend dear Bloguettes
Arrivederci Rita

$5.00???!! Oh my Rita, that was a STEAL! And it's the same make and model of the one you learned to type on. Wow, now that was a FIND! I just love it when I (or someone else) find a beauty like that at such a good price :)
ReplyDeletePeople are spending so much more for those beauties! It was destiny that you found "her"!

#5.00...get outta town girl! That's fabulous. I love it and especially the old black and white keys. I got a wonderful find yesterday too. An old pink rose covered hat box full of old hats...one a white fur. Woohoo....the lady kept apologizing because the old hat box showed time worn patina. I didn't even try to explain that I loved that old patina. ~ Have a great sunday.

Thanks for stopping in to visit. Love your blog, I will be back often to see what you are up to! Hugs, Janna
ReplyDeleteI love old typewriters, and have a small Corona one in my office. Thanks for the nice posts on my blog. I saw Christie yesterday and figured out "how" she was your sister-in-law. Sometimes I'm a bit "slow"! Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you. I learned on an IBM celectric, I know, what a baby. We now have 4 computers in our home. Big baby huh?
ReplyDeleteI have my husbands grandfathers old typewritter that he practiced Law on in Georgia. You have a very special treasure. For $5.00, no way!

Rita, thanks for your sweet comments on my blog. I love your own blog -- eclectic in the most positive sense, Italianate, fun, and simply very pleasing to the eye. Kudos!
ReplyDelete(And you're from Sicily! Lucky you. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been -- I've got to get back sometime soon. The Cappella Palatina in Palermo has just recently reopened after restoration. It was already overpowering when I saw it in the 90's; I don't know how much more opulently magical it can get, but I'll be sure to find out in the not-too distant future!)
All the best,
Michael
