THE LATEST BIRDHOUSE

when I first started building things, birdhouses were my favorite thing to make. Believe or not customers would call me "The Birdhouse Lady".

It's my therapy.....

Monday I got the wood and started drawing. Here are few pictures and a short video of The Making of a Birdhouse.

It all depends what size I want the birdhouse to be. This time I really wanted to make a large one so I chose a thick plywood. I could cut it on my table saw but I do prefer a jig saw and a circular saw for this project. And to tell you the truth I am only 4'11" tall and the table saw is too tall for me!
I used the circular saw to make the straight cuts and the diagonal ones. I the used the jig saw to cut all the tiny windows.

Here is a video of me cutting with the circular saw. Make sure you are wearing protective gear, and clamp your piece to cut to the table.
Here is a closer look of the jig saw and the tiny windows.
It's not showing here but you will need to drill at least one hole in each window to be able to insert the blade to cut the window.

The nails are that I used are galvanized and pretty new so I dipped them in black patina to give the antique look. The wood was first painted brown, then a mix of light green and aqua.

Love Love this tin ceiling. I have been waiting over 6 years to use it.

Wishing you a wonderful labor day weekend.
I will be getting ready for
The Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks
Ciao for now
